Anyone who has volunteered this year will receive an official invitation to this exclusive event in the next few weeks, in the meantime, please mark May 10th at 12:30pm on your calendars to save the date.
Spring Time = Field Trip Season!
We have many upcoming field trips planned and love having parent volunteers join us. These experiences are richer for students with more volunteers as it gives the students the opportunity to participate in the learning in smaller groups. If you would like to volunteer and have not completed your police clearance, please contact the office at 403-777-6600 and Linda will help you through the process.
Free Cross Cultural Parenting Program
Closer to Home Community Services & the Calgary Immigrant Women Association is offering a 8-week online parenting program. You will learn about parenting styles and cultural differences to thrive with your family in Canada. It begins April 29th at 10 am. Green Shirt Fridays
Help build school spirit by wearing your Alex Munro school shirt on Fridays. You are also welcome to wear any green shirt that day as well.
Hats on! For Mental Health Day | May 8
Every year CMHA dedicates a week in May to raise awareness of Mental Health. This year Mental Health Week will run May 6-10, and Hats On! for Mental Health Day will take place on May 8. Students are invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health. Teachers will engage in lessons and discussions around this topic as well.
Safety and Traffic Reminders
Thank-you for your care and attention to the safety of all of our students and staff in and around the school each day.
Please use the designated crosswalks when crossing with students – crossing between cars or around busses reduces visibility and increases risk for injury. We have had few calls about jaywalking in front of the school.
A reminder that there is no parent drop off or pick up of students in the staff parking lot. Families must use street parking around the school. Please note the no stopping zone in front of the school. Please do not stop here. This area is for safe pedestrian traffic and bus parking. We will have a school bus and two daycare busses that need to safely load and unload students in this space.
