The leadership students have organized a "bring anything but a backpack" spirit day for tomorrow, April 25. It'll be interesting to see all the creative ways the students bring their items to school tomorrow!

April 28th – Alex Munro School is an Election Polling Station
The school gym will be a polling station for the Federal election on April 28th.  The public will be using the W1 doors to enter and exit the polling station.  This will impact the drop off/line up and dismissal of students who are in Ms. Caughey’s and Ms. Quan’s classes.  We are asking families of children in these two classes to use the W2 doors instead on Monday, April 28th.

Calling on Country Hills neighbours!
The Country Hills Playground Boosters are still collecting ideas for a new playground at Country Hills Circle NW. Feedback from Country Hills residents is vital to shaping the new playground. We are not fundraising at this time--simply collecting ideas.

New Bell Times for Next Year – 9:14am to 3:47pm (1:17pm Friday Dismissal)
Parents received an email from CBE central office on Tuesday, April 8th announcing the changing of bell times for many CBE schools.  Alex Munro school is one of the schools on the list of the system wide bell changes for next year.  Our bell times for next year will be changing to a 9:14am start with a dismissal time of 3:47pm.  On Fridays the start time will be the same (9:14am) with a 1:17pm dismissal.

The reason many schools bell times have been altered is because the CBE has been experiencing a large increase in student enrolment, many of these students live in areas that do not have a community school and require yellow school bus service. There was also new legislation passed by the Government of Alberta that changed the eligibility for bus service for students which also increased how many students will be riding on school buses next year.

When changes are made to yellow bus transportation, it has an impact on bell times for schools. That’s because bell times are directly connected to transportation. Aligning bell times across schools makes transportation more efficient, allowing each bus to run multiple routes. This creates a reliable transportation system, ensuring students get to school safely, on time and ready to learn.

To learn more about the bell time changes please visit the CBE website bell times information page.

You can also visit the CBE Questions & Answers page for detailed information about the bell time and transportation service changes.
