Lockdown Drill Today
All CBE schools are required to practice two lockdown drills every school year. The Calgary Police Service assisted us with our second lockdown drill of the year this morning at 10:30am. The procedure included gathering at identified areas within the classrooms with staff and students remaining quiet and calm until the lockdown was over. Teachers prepared students for today's drill, and everything ran smoothly. If your child is anxious following today’s drill, please listen to their concerns and then reassure them that we practice lockdown drills to ensure everyone is safe in case of an emergency; just like practicing fire drills. CPS shared they were very pleased with how staff and students responded to the lockdown.

AMPA Hosted Family Friendship Dance | Feb 19 | 6:00 – 8:00 pm (Save the date!)
AMPA has planned a fantastic family night out for families to celebrate friendships on Feb 19 from 6-8pm.  The first 30mins of the dance (6:00-6:30 pm) will be sensory friendly with lower volume music and regular lighting. Snacks and juice will be available for purchase. Parents are required to attend with their children.  Due to liability requirements, students without parental supervision will not be allowed to attend the dance.

Fun Lunch | Feb 17 | Subway
Our next fun lunch will be Subway on Feb 17.  Orders can be made at www.healthyhunger.ca. The deadline to order is next Thursday, Feb 12 at 11:59pm

Valentines Day
As Valentine’s Day approaches, we kindly ask that families do not send candy or food treats to school. This helps us ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all children, especially those with allergies or dietary restrictions. Students are very welcome to bring non-food valentines (such as cards, notes, or small items like stickers or pencils) Thank you for your understanding and continued support in helping us keep all students safe and included. We truly appreciate the partnership we share with our families.

Toys, Cards (Pokémon), Fidget Tools, and Key Chains (3D printed toys)
Recently, there has been an increase in personal toys/items being brought to school by students. Bringing personal items to school often creates a distraction to the learning environment and can lead to peer conflict.  Please support our teachers and staff by ensuring that your children are not bringing personal items to school.  If any personal items are required for projects or classroom learning, the teachers will communicate this through email or their Google classrooms. If sensory or fidget tools are required as an accommodation for learning, the teacher will either provide these for your child or will directly consult with you.  Please do not let your child bring in any personal items unless you have been contacted by their teacher.

Lost and Found
We wanted to let families know that we do have many items in the lost and found. We will be sure to invite students to peruse the lost and found.  You are also welcome to visit the school to see if there are items belonging to your child.  Please come visit the school to look through and claim lost items. The school dance on Feb 19 will also be a great chance to check it out. We recommend labeling all clothing items, especially outer winter wear, to help us return items to their rightful owners.

Report Cards | Feb 24
Report cards will be available to families via your myCBE/PowerSchool account on February 24.

Student Progress Updates and Marks Available on PowerSchool
On top of the two official report cards this year, ongoing assessment information is published on PowerSchool by your child’s teacher and is available to parents for viewing for all core subjects. This gives families timely information about how your child is doing throughout the school year.

Bottle Drive Fridays
Just like last year, you can donate your refundable bottles to AMPA by dropping them off at the front of the school (by the free little library) every Friday. Our goal this year is to raise $2000 through our bottle drive Fridays.
