With the return of cold weather please ensure students are dressed appropriately for the conditions including a warm winter jacket, boots, mitts/gloves, and a toque. Snowpants are also recommended. Also, it is important that students are not walking to school or dropped off prior to 9am as staff supervision outside prior to school starts at 9am. Thank you. Staffing Updates As communicated in an email on Tuesday, Nov 20, Mr. Whiteman will be going on parental leave beginning next week. His leave will continue for the remainder of the current school year. He will be returning as our full-time music teacher for the 2026-27 school year in September. To ensure continuity in our music program, we have arranged for a familiar substitute teacher, Ms. Rachel Blote, to teach the music classes until February 6. Ms. Blote is not available to teach music beyond Feb 6. At this same time, we are actively interviewing candidates for an interim music teacher. Also communicated to our grade 3B families, Ms. Anna has extended her leave and will not be returning for the remainder of this school year. We wish her all the very best during her time away. Ms. Huiyi Ma (Ms. Yima) who has been filling in for Ms. Anna on an interim basis will be taking over the class full time for the remainder of the school year. Lost and Found We wanted to let families know that we do have many items in the lost and found. We will be sure to invite students to peruse the lost and found. You are also welcome to visit the school to see if there are items belonging to your child. Please come into the school anytime to look through and claim the lost items. This is also a good time to remind parents that labeling all clothing items especially outer winter wear really helps us return items to their rightful owner before they end up in the lost and found. Who Do you Tell? Program – Continues next week The "Who Do You Tell?" (WDYT) program is an educational initiative by Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA) for elementary kids (K-6). The program teaches that it is important to identify a safe and trusted adult to tell your feelings and experiences to, especially if they involve discomfort or potential harm. Report Cards – Feb 24 Due to job action in October, mid-term year report cards have been delayed about 3 weeks. Report cards will now be available to families via your myCBE/PowerSchool account on February 24. Student Progress Updates and Marks Available on PowerSchool On top of the two official report cards this year, ongoing assessment information is published on PowerSchool by your child’s teacher and is available to parents for viewing for all core subjects. This gives families timely information about how your child is doing throughout the school year. Kindergarten Registration Now Open Kindergarten registration opened on Monday, Jan 12. If you have children that will be 5 years old on Sept 1, 2026 then please register them online through School Engage. For more information regarding Kindergarten registration please click here.
