Although we can be thankful for the unusually mild weather this January, the up and down temperatures have created various ice hazards in and around the playground and school field. Please remind your child(ren) not to play or slide on the ice. As much fun as this may seem, we have had a few injuries from students slipping on the ice in the last few weeks. We will continue to put gravel on high traffic areas as well as remind the students to stay off the ice during recess time.
Next week is Family Literacy Week. Please click here for some ideas, resources, and ways your family can celebrate and recognize literacy!
Report Cards
Term 1 report cards will be available for viewing/downloading on January 27. It is important to note that the Calgary Board of Education has standardized the format of comments on all K-9 report cards to ensure consistency and clarity with how we report student progress. These comments will include Areas of Strength and Areas for Growth based on the outcomes of the AB Curriculum in English Language Arts and Literature, Mathematics, Science or Social Studies and optional comments from the non-core subjects based on each individual student. These comments will follow the following format:
Term 2 – Mathematics Marks will Be Published in PowerSchool
Starting in mid-February, teachers will be publishing mathematics marks and assignment updates in PowerSchool on an ongoing basis. This will give parents the opportunity to view current marks through MyCBE PowerSchool on a more regular basis.

Kindergarten Registration Open Now
Kindergarten Registration opened on Monday, Jan 13. If you have children that will be 5 years before Dec 31, 2025 then please register them online through School Engage. For more information regarding Kindergarten registration please click here.
All other student registrations for 2024-25
All K-5 students currently registered at Alex Munro school who live in our designated area will be rolled over to the next grade at Alex Munro school unless you inform us of your intent to attend a different school for next year. If Alex Munro school is not your designated school, then you will need to wait until the end of April/beginning May at which time we assess our capacity and whether we can continue to accept out of area students. If your child is in grade 6 they will be assigned to their designated middle/junior high school for next year which is Sir John A. MacDonald for the community of Huntington Hills and Colonel Irving for the community of Country Hills. Please let us know if you would like to choose an alternative program for grade 7 such as French Immersion (George P. Vanier) or Arts-Centred Learning (Sir John Franklin).
