A reminder that tomorrow, January 30, is a professional learning day for teachers and there is no school for students.
New Temporary Music Teacher
We are happy to announce that Ms. Glenda MacLeod will be starting next week as our new music teacher who will be filling in for Mr. Whiteman until the end of this school year. Ms. MacLeod is a retired music teacher who has a wealth of experience teaching music and has worked in many different CBE schools throughout her teaching career. We are so happy that she is coming out of retirement temporarily to join our team on a temporary basis.
Toys, Cards (Pokémon), Fidget Tools, and Key Chains (3D printed toys)
Recently, there has been an increase in personal toys/items being brought to school by students. Bringing personal items to school often creates a distraction to the learning environment and can lead to peer conflict. Please support our teachers and staff by ensuring that your children are not bringing personal items to school. If any personal items are required for projects or classroom learning, the teachers will communicate this through email or their Google classrooms. If sensory or fidget tools are required as an accommodation for learning, the teacher will either provide these for your child or will directly consult with you. Please do not let your child bring in any personal items unless you have been contacted by their teacher.
Lost and Found
We wanted to let families know that we do have many items in the lost and found. We will be sure to invite students to peruse the lost and found. You are also welcome to visit the school to see if there are items belonging to your child. Please come into the school anytime to look through and claim the lost items. This is also a good time to remind parents that labeling all clothing items, especially outer winter wear, really helps us return items to their rightful owner before they end up in the lost and found.
Report Cards – Feb 24
Due to job action in October, mid-year report cards have been delayed about 3 weeks. Report cards will now be available to families via your myCBE/PowerSchool account on February 24.
Student Progress Updates and Marks Available on PowerSchool
On top of the two official report cards this year, ongoing assessment information is published on PowerSchool by your child’s teacher and is available to parents for viewing for all core subjects. This gives families timely information about how your child is doing throughout the school year.
Bottle Drive Fridays
Just like last year, you can donate your refundable bottles to AMPA by dropping them off at the front of the school (by the free little library) every Friday. Our goal this year is to raise $2000 through our bottle drive Fridays.
