The grade 4/5 assembly last Friday was awesome. Thank you grade 4/5 students for the important learning about friendship, kindness, and teamwork. It was also great to hear about how we can all promote these values in the school by showing leadership in these areas. Community Block Party Celebration – June 13th 2-6pm (TOMORROW) AMPA is pleased to be organizing a community block party on the school grounds the afternoon of June 13 to show our appreciation of the Huntington Hills community as well as all the families at Alex Munro School. Please come out for a fun afternoon with your friends and family. There will be free family outdoor games, face painting, and a DJ. There will also be some food trucks so that families can have a snack, treat, or even a family-fun dinner outside! Grade 6 Farewell Assembly – June 13th 12:30pm-1:15pm Come out and celebrate the end of the grade 6 students’ journey at Alex Munro as we send them off to middle/jr. high school tomorrow at 12:30pm in the school gym. We will be celebrating this important month through classroom work and on Thursday, June 19 with special guest, World Champion Hoop Dancer, Jerrhan First Charger. He will be sharing his talents and knowledge with classes throughout the day. Jerrhan will also be performing for the school at 2:30 pm in the gym. All families welcome! Voluntales | Thank you! Our first year of the Voluntales program was a great success! Volunteers, teachers, and students absolutely loved being a part of the program. Thank you so much to our volunteers for building relationships, bringing joy to reading, and introducing new worlds to our students. Looking forward to more voluntales next year. Lost and Found We wanted to let families know that we do have many items in the lost and found. These items will be donated at the end of the year if they are not collected by families. We will be sure to invite students to peruse the lost and found. You are also welcome to visit the school to see if there are items belonging to your child. Adopt-A-Plant Program Our Adopt-A-Plant program for students is live! This program is to celebrate and carry forward the great work students have done this year in planting and caring for their naturalization space. Anyone can participate in keeping these new plants healthy by helping to water them throughout the summer, using the watering can provided at the water barrel. If students would like to 'adopt' their own plant, they can pick up a welcome bag from Ms. Best and care for their plant over summer. They can return their completed plant book in fall for a thank you prize!
Parent Garden Volunteers We are also looking for help from parents over the summer weeks to give more targeted care to the naturalization space. Watering, fertilizing, weeding, and occasional mowing are the key tasks for which we can use all hands on deck! Novices are welcome and our garden chair is available to walk you through the process. Please connect with Sara Baker at saralindsaybaker@gmail.com if you are able to help for one or two weeks over summer break. As much or as little as you can do can help our space be the best it can be!
