The Alex Munro school council and parent association Annual General Meeting (AGM) is on Monday, June 9 at 6:15pm online. The meeting link will be sent out on Monday. This is very important meeting to attend as the vote for the executive positions will be taking place. Special Presentation – Safe Social Media Use – June 10 @6:15pm
AMPA is pleased to present a special presentation for parents by Jo Phillips about how to talk to your children about safe social media use next Tuesday, June 10 from 6:15pm-7:45pm in the school Learning Commons. All parents are welcome. We will have refreshments. Please come out for a great night of learning with some coffee and conversation! This is a unique opportunity for parents of grade 3-6 students as the students will all be participating in a safe social media session with Jo during the school day. The evening session for parents will be a follow up to the student sessions and will equip parents on how to talk to their children about safe social media use. June is National Indigenous Peoples History Month and June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day. June 14-21, 2025 is also Indigenous Awareness Week in the City of Calgary. We will be celebrating this important month through classroom work and on Thursday, June 19 with special guest, World Champion Hoop Dancer, Jerrhan First Charger. He will be sharing his talents and knowledge with classes throughout the day. Lost and Found
We wanted to let families know that we do have many items in the lost and found. These items will be donated at the end of the year if they are not collected by families. We will be sure to invite students to peruse the lost and found. You are also welcome to visit the school to see if there are items belonging to your child. Adopt a Plant Program for Students
Thank you to all our students who have worked hard to plant and care for our school's naturalization space. To keep the space growing and looking beautiful, we are looking for volunteers to help water and care for these plants throughout the summer season. There will be a sign-up sheet at the front desk through the month of June for anyone interested in helping. If you want to volunteer to 'adopt a plant' this summer, you can:
1. Sign up with Ms. Best at the office by putting your name next to the plant or space of your choice. Sign up runs June 2-20
2. Come and get a welcome kit with supplies, instructions and garden book, from Ms. Best from June 16-20
3. Care for your section by watering from the rain barrel, fertilizing and weeding whenever you are able to - just do what you can!
4. Return your garden book in the fall to Ms. Best and celebrate your good work! If you have any questions or need any help, ask your classroom teacher. Community Block Party Celebration – June 13th 2-6pm
AMPA is pleased to be organizing a community block party on the school grounds the afternoon of June 13 to show our appreciation of the Huntington Hills community as well as all the families at Alex Munro School. Please come out for a fun afternoon with your friends and family. There will be family outdoor games, face painting, and a DJ. There will also be some food trucks so that families can have a snack, treat, or even a family-fun dinner outside! Upcoming Dates
