IMPORTANT - Casino Fundraiser - June 18&19 - Last Chance to Sign Up
We have many volunteer slots to fill for the upcoming casino fundraiser especially for the Thursday evening shifts. Please, Please sign up. We really appreciate any time you can donate to support our school. These casinos are significant and allow us to easily fund raise around $60,000! This fundraising will go toward upgrades to our school playground, which is very exciting! But - we cannot do this without volunteer support. If you are able, please consider giving your time. Most of our remaining slots are on Thursday night with a few slots open during the daytime on Thursday. Please see this google form for detailed information and the opportunity to sign up! Without volunteers we lose our casino and will not be able to benefit from the huge amount of funds (usually around $60 000) that this brings to the Alex Munro Parent Association (AMPA). Again, please sign up and ask your friends or relatives to consider signing up too! If you are unable to volunteer, please spread the word! Volunteers can be anyone over the age of 18. Our students will be putting on a drumming presentation assembly on June 17 at 2:30pm. All families are welcome to attend. The performance will have an animal theme where the grade 1-5 classes will be playing a drumming song based on a jungle animal. Doors will open at 2:15pm
Volunteer Tea – June 17 at 10:00am
We will be hosting a volunteer tea to celebrate all our great volunteers this year. The event will be on June 17 at 10am in the school gym. Teachers have been sending out invitations to volunteers for this event. If you have volunteered this year and have not received an invite, please contact the school so we can add you to the list. Grade 6 Farewell – June 19 at 12:00 pm
We will be having a grade 6 farewell assembly for family and friends on June 19th at 12:00pm. Please come and celebrate our grade 6’s and wish them the best for their new adventures as they move into middle school.
Fun Lunch – The Saucy Bread Company
Our next fun lunch will be The Saucy Bread Company on Tuesday, June 16. Orders can be made at healthyhunger.ca. The order deadline is next Thursday, June 11 at 11:59pm. Sports Day – June 24
We are currently planning this year’s Sports Day for ALL students at Alex Munro, taking place on June 24 from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. To help make the day successful, we are looking for parent volunteers to assist with running the various activity stations. Depending on the number of volunteers, your role would involve helping set up, supervise and lead one station throughout the event. As groups rotate to your station, you will help run the activity and complete a simple score sheet ranking the teams from 1st to 4th place. Each station will also have a student volunteer from SJAM supporting in a leadership role. We are hoping to have a minimum of 15 parent volunteers, while classroom teachers circulate with their classes to support supervision and behaviour management. AMPA will be hosting a community block party on June 26 (The last day of school!) from 1:30pm to 6pm. Come out to our west compound area with your family to enjoy face painting, balloon animals, fun games, and great company with your neighbor's! There will also be food truck in the parking lot so families can have dinner or a snack! Taking Care of our Garden and Adopt a Plant
Thank you to everyone who helped us till and plant the grassy northwest hill last weekend! It was a beautiful sunny day, and a lot of fun was had. Please help us keep the growing going! The Adopt-A-Plant program will be running all summer - students can sign up to check in on their favorite flowers over summer and use the water barrel in the area to keep our green friends happy. Plant care kits with instructions will be available from Ms. Best for anyone who would like to adopt-a-plant in our garden space over the summer. Parent volunteers are also needed to help our garden thrive. Please consider signing up for a week this summer - enjoy the fresh air with your family and help us weed and water! Bottle Drive Fridays
Just like last year, you can donate your refundable bottles to AMPA by dropping them off at the front of the school (by the free little library) every Friday. Our goal this year is to raise $2000 through our bottle drive Fridays. Upcoming Important Dates:
