Lockdown Drill – Monday, March 10
All CBE schools are required to practice two lockdown drills every school year. Calgary Police will be assisting us with our second lockdown drill on Monday, March 10 at 10am The procedures all schools are expected to follow include gathering at an identified area within the classroom with staff and students remaining quiet and calm until the lockdown is over. No one can enter or leave the building during a lockdown drill. We are letting parents and guardians know in advance so that they can have a discussion with their child before the lockdown drill if they choose. Teachers will be discussing and going over procedures with their classes next week. If the anticipation of participating in the lockdown drill tomorrow is causing your child stress, then please let your child’s teacher know so that they can support your child before, during, and after the practice drill.
Students Staying on the School Grounds Immediately After School
Now that the weather is warmer please remind your child(ren) of our policy that students need to go directly home after school and to check in with a parent at home before returning to the school grounds, if they wish to play with their friends after school hours. If a parent is at the school picking up their child, then they may stay to play. The reason for this is to have a consistent policy to ensure all families know where their children are after school hours. This policy also helps to ensure that students who need to get on the bus or meet their after-school childcare supervisor are doing it in a timely manner. Thank you for your support with this policy.
Grade 4 Students and Parents | AB Education Assurance Survey
Every year, AB Education surveys students, their parents and all teachers on behalf of schools and school authorities to assess what is working well and where there is room for improvement. The survey asks students in grades 4, 7, 10, and their parents about their thoughts, feelings and experiences in school. The survey will be administered to grade 4 students in March 2025. Grade 4 parents should have received an email with the survey information as well. Please contact Mr. Belcher or Ms. Sasha if you have any questions. You can also access the information sheet here.
