Parents, you can make a major contribution to our school by volunteering for our upcoming Casino nights! By working just a few hours you will make a huge difference to how much funds our school receives which translates into enhanced learning opportunities for your children including more technology, experiences such as residencies and field trips as well as funding for the planned updates to our playground. Please, please, please consider signing up. This small commitment makes a huge difference! See below for details.
IMPORTANT - Upcoming Casino – Our Biggest Fundraiser – Please Sign Up!
We are gearing up for our biggest fundraiser of the school year and we need your help. Without volunteers we lose our casino and will not be able to benefit from the huge amount of funds (usually around $60 000) that this brings to the Alex Munro Parent Association (AMPA). Please sign up and ask your friends or relatives to consider signing up too!
Alex Munro Parent Council will be at Ace Airport Casino on June 18th and June 19th, 2026, for our fundraiser with the AGLC. This two-day event will help us bring in much needed funds to help make our AMS school playground updates a reality.
There are roles for everyone from Bankers, Chip Runners, and Cash Room Counters. There are day and night shifts for both June 18th and June 19th and we need volunteers for all the time slots.
Everyone who volunteers gets a complimentary meal from Ace Airport Casino during their shift (the food is really good!) and of course the chance to help out the students of AMS get a more accessible playground with the gift of your time, and other needed items.
If you are interested in helping AMPA and Alex Munro School with this event, please complete the following sign up form. You can access it at this link (https://forms.gle/baghEoHMJTQoKoUz8).
Spring clean-up time has arrived!
Come and join us for a beautiful time with your family in the fresh air in our naturalization space!
Sunday May 31, 1:00-3:00pm - Bringing colour to our garden; planting flowers, cleaning up and nurturing our space to be as bright and beautiful as possible. Learn where you can find and love our Nanking cherries, saskatoon berries, strawberries, rhubard, chives and more!
Saturday June 6, 1:00-3:00pm - Learn to make your own fertilizer and to 'Regrow Your Dinner' with short demonstrations where we will learn to take table scraps and turn them into fresh veggies in our very own garden.
Please bring your egg shells and coffee grounds from your family's breakfast!
Come to one event or both!
Toys, Cards (Pokémon), Fidget Tools, and Key Chains (3D printed toys)
Recently, there has been an increase in personal toys/items being brought to school by students. Bringing personal items to school often creates a distraction to the learning environment and can lead to peer conflict. Please support our teachers and staff by ensuring that your children are not bringing personal items to school. If any personal items are required for projects or classroom learning, the teachers will communicate this through email or their Google classrooms. If sensory or fidget tools are required as an accommodation for learning, the teacher will either provide these for your child or will directly consult with you. Please do not let your child bring in any personal items unless you have been contacted by their teacher.
Student Fees
Please log into your MyCBE account and ensure fees are paid. For more information on school fees please refer to the CBE fees website.
If you desire assistance with fees, please consider:
- Applying for a Central Fee Waiver. The CBE is currently offering extensions for 2024–25 waivers until June 30, 2026. Please reach out to FeeWaiver@cbe.ab.ca for more information.
- Requesting a Payment Plan by contacting StudentFees@cbe.ab.ca. A payment plan requires a signed commitment to pay a minimum of $20 per month toward 2024–25 central fees.
Bottle Drive Fridays
Just like last year, you can donate your refundable bottles to AMPA by dropping them off at the front of the school (by the free little library) every Friday. Our goal this year is to raise $2000 through our bottle drive Fridays.
