May 8 - Weekly Update

 

The Sir John A. MacDonald Concert and Jazz Band visited us Wednesday afternoon with an excellent performance.  Many students were thrilled to see their older siblings performing in the band. It was a great showcase of the excellent band/music program at SJAM! 

Family Literacy Night – Tonight! | 6:30 – 8:00 pm 
We are excited to invite all families to our Family Literacy Night tonight, May 8, from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. Families will be invited to visit various stations around the school focused on reading, writing, vocabulary, oral storytelling, phonics, comprehension and more! You will have a chance to visit the Scholastic Book Fair and win some door prizes. We are also thrilled that Elder Shirley will be back to share stories and songs. Come one and all! Students must attend with a parent/sibling over 18. 

Scholastic Book Fair 
We are excited to once again host the Scholastic Book Fair at our school. The book fair will be open for families in the evening during Family Literacy Night as well as tomorrow for students to purchase books. 

School Council and Parent Association Meeting – Monday, May 12 @6:15pm 
The May parent council meeting is next Monday, May 12 at 6:15pm on Teams.  We will be sending out a meeting invite with a link next Monday morning. Joining this meeting is a great way for parents to get involved with school fundraisers as well as participate alongside with school administration to make important decisions that support the learning of our students. It is also important to mention that the June 9th parent council meeting will include the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is a very important meeting to attend.  All meetings are online and can be easily accessed from the comfort of your home via Teams.  

Volunteer Tea | Friday, May 30, 12:15 pm
