Welcome back from fall break!  We hope everyone took advantage of the extra few days and were able to do something to rejuvenate and/or connect with loved ones. The students are excited to be back and getting ready for a focused stretch of learning leading up to winter break. Students will be able to share their learning so far with parents/guardians on Friday, November 29 at Parent Teacher Conferences. This is a great chance to understand where your child is at with their learning and to set goals leading up to the mid-year report card at the end of January. More details about our parent teacher conferences can be found below.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Friday, November 29 from 8am – 4pm.  These conferences will be a 15 min scheduled sit down meeting with your child’s teacher. Please bring your child with you as they will be involved as advocates of their own learning. The online booking system will be available through your MyCBE account starting on November 21 at 7pm.  Kindergarten families, please see an email from Ms. Holly about your conference schedule, as it will be different with added Thursday appointments.

Would you like an interpreter for your parent conference?
Please contact your child’s teacher if you would like an interpreter for your upcoming parent teacher conference and we will be happy to have an interpreter available for the interview. Just let us know which language you are most comfortable with for your child’s conference, and we will be sure to have an interpreter available.

Fun Lunch – Tues, Nov 19 – Subway
The deadline to order Subway for next Tuesday’s fun lunch is tonight at 11:59pm. Please your orders at www.healthyhunger.ca

Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic book fair will be in our school learning commons the week of Nov 25-29. Click here for more information.

Winter Concerts
In December, Alex Munro School will be hosting 2 evening winter concerts. On December 5th, kindergarten, grade 1 and 2 will be performing at 6:30pm. On December 12th, grade 3,4,5 and 6 will be performing at 6:30pm. Due to fire restrictions and gym capacity, each family can request up to 3 tickets for the concert(s). To keep the ticket distribution process organized, each classroom has a unique link for ticket requests. Teachers sent these links last week. Tickets will be sent home a week before the concerts. If additional seats are available after all families have had the opportunity to reserve their 3 spots, we will give an opportunity for families to request more tickets.

Alien Inline Skating Residency – Nov 18-26
We are excited to be welcoming Alien Inline who will be teaching our students the techniques and skills of inline skating.  Each class will receive 3 one-hour sessions. Please dress in comfortable clothing and wear socks. Alien Inline has some available helmets; however, all students are strongly encouraged to bring their own certified helmet. Thank you AMPA for funding this residency. Because this activity requires putting on safety gear and tying up skates, we are asking if parents could volunteer to help the younger students put on and take off all their gear. If you can volunteer, please email our AMPA volunteer coordinator, Jacqueline McPhee at ampavolunteers@gmail.com

Voluntales | Read with an Alex Munro Student
Are you interested in making a difference in young readers' lives? We have an exciting opportunity for you!
