With the return of colder weather on the horizon please ensure your children are dressed for the conditions. Spending time outdoors is shown to improve our health and wellbeing, so it is especially important to be outside during the winter months where we tend to “hibernate” in our houses. Our students will be much happier if they are warm and comfortable during outdoor activities so please ensure that they have winter boots, a warm jacket, mitts or gloves, and a toque (and snow pants for the coldest and/or snowiest outdoor days). Thank you!

Alien Inline Residency – Postponed: New dates are March 30-April 10
Unfortunately Alien Inline has had to postpone our inline skating residency due to an unforeseen event; our instructor was no longer available. Instead of trying to piecemeal together an alternate schedule with multiple instructors on non-consecutive days during the very busy month of December, we have decided the students would have a much better experience during a proper two-week residency. The next available consecutive dates are in the spring, so the residency will start March 30 and run until April 10. Alien Inline is apologetic for this circumstance and have expressed appreciation for our flexibility with the rescheduling. The Family Skate Night originally planned for next Thursday will also be postponed and is now rescheduled for April 9.

Scholastic Book Fair – Nov 24-28
The Scholastic Book Fair will be at Alex Munro School next week, November 24-28. Each class will have the opportunity to browse the books on Monday and Tuesday, and purchasing starts on Wednesday, November 26. On Friday, November 28 the book fair will be open 8am-3pm so families can browse and/or purchase books during parent-teacher conferences. Happy Reading!

Parent Teacher Conferences – Friday, Nov 27 8am-4pm
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Friday, November 28 from 8am – 4pm. These conferences will be 15 minutes in length, at a scheduled time, for you to meet with your child’s teacher. Please bring your child with you as they will be involved as advocates of their own learning. The online booking system will be available through your MyCBE account starting on November 20 at 7pm (tonight). Please book your meeting time with your child’s teacher as connections between home and school are very important for a child’s success in school.

Would you like an interpreter for your Parent Teacher Conference?
Please contact your child’s teacher if you would like an interpreter for your upcoming parent teacher conference and we will be happy to have an interpreter available for the interview. Just let us know which language you are most comfortable with, and we will be sure to have an interpreter available.

Winter Concerts – Dec 11 and 18
We will be hosting two winter concerts again this year, one on December 11 featuring our Grade 1-3 students and the other one on December 18 featuring our Grade 4-6 and Kindergarten students.  Additional details will be posted in future weekly updates.

Bottle Drive Fridays
Just like last year you can donate your refundable bottles to AMPA by dropping them off at the front of the school (by the free little library) every Friday.  Our goal this year is to raise $2000 through our bottle drive Fridays.
