The grade 6’s had a great time at outdoor school participating in activities such as horseback riding, archery, crafting, hiking, and so much more. I’m sure they came home yesterday filled with exciting stories. Thanks so much to Tim Horton’s Children’s Ranch for this great opportunity!  It was an adventurous few days!

A reminder that there is no school for students tomorrow. We look forward to welcoming all our families to the school for parent-teacher conferences.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences will be tomorrow Friday, November 29 from 8am – 4pm.  These conferences will be a 15 min scheduled sit down meeting with your child’s teacher. Please bring your child with you as they will be involved as advocates of their own learning. If you haven’t book an appointment yet, you can still book by logging in to your MyCBE or by calling the office at 403-777-6600. We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday.

Lost and Found
Please take time during parent conferences to look through the lost and found and claim any of your child’s lost items. The best way to prevent losing items is to label all student belongings. Sweaters and outerwear are the most common items in our lost and found.  All of these can be easily labeled with a sharpie marker or a sticker label. Please take time to label all of your child’s belongings to ensure that we are able to identify lost items, so they don’t end up in the lost and found pile.

Scholastic Book Fair
The students have enjoyed previewing the Scholastic book this week, including time to purchase yesterday and today. The book fair will be open during conferences on Friday. Click here for more information.

Cold Weather
Now that we are entering the winter seasons it is a good time to remind families of our policy when it comes to students going outside. When the temperature with wind chill is below –20 degrees Celsius, we implement what we call a “green dot day”. This means that students can enter the school in the morning when they arrive between 8:35am-8:50am. It also means that students will stay inside during recess and lunchtime. If the temperature is warmer than –20 degrees Celsius then students will be expected to go outside. Please ensure that students come prepared for outside play in cold weather with appropriate outer wear including winter boots, hats, mittens and snow pants.

Winter Concerts
In December, Alex Munro School will be hosting 2 evening winter concerts. On December 5th, kindergarten, grade 1 and 2 will be performing at 6:30pm. On December 12th, grade 3,4,5 and 6 will be performing at 6:30pm. Tickets are starting to be sent home with students this week (you most likely received them yesterday or will be today), however some teachers may be handing out tickets directly to families during conferences. Thank you for requesting tickets, we are currently organizing these requests and will do our best to accommodate the requests for extra tickets. We will start to send home the extra ticket requests starting next week.
