Lockdown Drill – May 6
All CBE schools are required to practice two lockdown drills every school year. Calgary Police will be assisting us with our second lockdown drill of the year on Monday, May 6 at 1:15pm. The procedures all schools are expected to follow include gathering at an identified area within the classroom with staff and students remaining quiet and calm until the lockdown is over. No one can enter or leave the building during a lockdown drill.  We are letting parents and guardians know in advance so that they can have a discussion with their child before the lockdown drill if they choose.  Teachers will be discussing and going over procedures with their classes as well. If the anticipation of participating in a lockdown drill is causing your child stress, then please let your child’s teacher know so that they can support your child before, during, and after the practice drill.

School Council Meeting Monday, May 6th @6:15pm

Volunteer Tea – May 10th
Invitations have been sent out directly to anyone who has volunteered this year. Please let us know if you have volunteered this year and haven’t received an invitation.

Growing and Hungry Students
We have noticed an increase in the amount of emergency food we are providing for students at lunch. This is separate from our breakfast program. Student hunger can increase and decrease at various stages of their development, especially if they are going through a growth spurt. If you are able to, please send a little extra food or snacks with your child, if their appetite is increasing.

Spring Time = Field Trip Season!
We have many upcoming field trips planned and love having parent volunteers join us.  These experiences are richer for students with more volunteers as it gives students the opportunity to participate in the learning in smaller groups.  If you would like to volunteer and have not completed your police clearance, please contact the office at 403-777-6600 and Linda will help you through the process. Upcoming field trips are listed below.

Green Shirt Fridays
Help build school spirit by wearing your Alex Munro school shirt on Fridays. You are also welcome to wear any green shirt that day as well.
