The Giving Faire is tonight (Dec 7) and all the students and teachers are very excited to be hosting a great family event that focuses on helping others in need. We can’t wait to see everyone tonight.

A reminder that tomorrow is a professional learning day for staff and there is no school for students (Dec 8).

School Improvement Results Report and School Development Plan
Both our 2022-23 School Improvement Results Report (SIRR) and our 2023-24 School Development Plan (SDP) are now available to view on our website by clicking here.  Our SDP goals this year are focused on improving student achievement in both literacy and mathematics.  We also have two goals associated with supporting student wellness.
AMPA Bottle Drive and Fundraising News
AMPA continues to collect bottles every Friday – just drop your bottles off at the front of the school every Friday and they will take care of the rest!  Thanks to everyone who has already participated in this fundraiser.  AMPA also kicked off their latest fundraiser on Nov 7. Information about this fundraiser was sent home with your child last week.
Traffic Safety
Although it is convenient to pull into our parking lot to drop off or pick up your child at or from school, parking lots are dangerous places when vehicles and children are in them at the same time. Parents, as contributing members of our community and to support our school, please do not enter our parking lot for pick up or drop off purposes.  We have plenty of street parking around the school. Thank you for supporting the safety of our students.

Our patrols are doing a great job helping everyone cross at our crosswalk on 78th Ave, however many people are still jaywalking at various points in front of the school.  For the safety of all people use the crosswalk.  Thank you.

Winter Solstice – December 21
The winter solstice is a celebration of light returning to Turtle Island. It is the shortest day of the year; Grandfather Sun will begin to shine for longer each day bringing the promise of warmer weather, growth, and new life. Darkness can represent struggle, and light brings hope of easier times. The solstice is also a time of ceremony, stories, and song for some Indigenous cultures. It is a time of significance and celebration. We celebrate light and the return of Grandfather Sun - light sustains life and for that we have gratitude for all of creation.
