With the deep freeze here and the students being inside during recess and lunch for the last few days, the family dance tonight will be a great way to burn off some energy. We look forward to seeing as many families as possible tonight for a fun time! Thanks to AMPA for hosting this great event!

AMPA Hosted Family Friendship Dance | Feb 19 | 6:00 – 8:00 pm TONIGHT!
AMPA has planned a fantastic family night out for families to celebrate friendships on Feb 19 from 6-8pm.  The first 30mins of the dance (6:00-6:30 pm) will be sensory friendly with lower volume music and regular lighting. Snacks and juice will be available for purchase. Parents are required to attend with their children.  Due to liability requirements, students without parental supervision will not be allowed to attend the dance.

Pink Shirt Day – Feb 25
Next Wednesday, February 25, we’ll be recognizing Pink Shirt Day to promote kindness, inclusion, and the importance of standing up against bullying. We encourage all students and staff to wear pink to show their support and help spread the message that every act of kindness makes a difference.

Gymnastics | Wear Appropriate Attire
Equipment is set-up, and students have enjoyed the first few days of mat work which includes balances, rolls, and small jumps. Week 2 will include the Canadian Climber, trestles, and box horses. Week 3 students will enjoy a Mission Impossible style obstacle course. Please ensure all students are jewelry free, with hair tied back, and ensure they wear loose clothing. Students will be wearing socks and/or running shoes.

Student Fees
All school fees and field trip fees can be viewed by logging into your MyCBE account.  Most of the yearly fees are added to accounts in the fall, however, some fees (such as field trip fees) are added to your account throughout the school year. You may log in to your MyCBE account to view which fees are paid and/or are outstanding.  For more information on school fees please refer to the CBE fees website

Some families have outstanding fees from last school year. If you need assistance with last year's fees, please consider:

  • Applying for a Central Fee Waiver. The CBE is currently offering extensions for 2024–25 waivers until June 30, 2026. Please reach out to FeeWaiver@cbe.ab.ca for more information.
  • Requesting a Payment Plan by contacting StudentFees@cbe.ab.ca. A payment plan requires a signed commitment to pay a minimum of $20 per month toward 2024–25 central fees.

Toys, Cards (Pokémon), Fidget Tools, and Key Chains (3D printed toys)
Recently, there has been an increase in personal toys/items being brought to school by students. Bringing personal items to school often creates a distraction to the learning environment and can lead to peer conflict.  Please support our teachers and staff by ensuring that your children are not bringing personal items to school.  If any personal items are required for projects or classroom learning, the teachers will communicate this through email or their Google classrooms. If sensory or fidget tools are required as an accommodation for learning, the teacher will either provide these for your child or will directly consult with you.  Please do not let your child bring in any personal items unless you have been contacted by their teacher.

Lost and Found
We have many items in the lost and found. You are welcome to visit the school to see if there are items belonging to your child. Tonight's’ dance is a great opportunity to do so! We recommend labeling all clothing items, especially outer winter wear, to help us return items to their rightful owners.

Report Cards – Feb 24
Report cards will be available to families via your myCBE/PowerSchool account on February 24.

Student Progress Updates and Marks Available on PowerSchool
On top of the two official report cards this year, ongoing assessment information is published on PowerSchool by your child’s teacher and is available to parents for viewing for all core subjects. This gives families timely information about how your child is doing throughout the school year.

Bottle Drive Fridays
Just like last year, you can donate your refundable bottles to AMPA by dropping them off at the front of the school (by the free little library) every Friday. Our goal this year is to raise $2000 through our bottle drive Fridays.
