Welcome back from fall break! We hope everyone took advantage of the extra few days and were able to do something to rejuvenate and/or connect with loved ones. The students are excited to be back and getting ready for a focused stretch of learning leading up to winter break. Students will be able to share their learning so far with parents/guardians next Friday, November 25 at Parent Teacher Conferences. This is a great chance to understand where your child is at with their learning and to set goals leading up to the mid-year report card at the end of January. More details about our parent teacher conferences can be found below. 

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held next week on Friday, November 25 from 8am – 4pm.  These conferences will be a 15 min scheduled sit down meeting with your child’s teacher. Please bring your child with you as they will be involved as advocates of their own learning. The online booking system will be available through your MyCBE account starting on November 17 at 8 am.  Kindergarten families, please see an email from Ms. Holly about your conference schedule, as it will be different with added Thursday appointments. Ms. Bedard’s grade 4 class will also have an alternate schedule. Please expect an email directly from Ms. Bedard about these conferences as they will happen on Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1.  

Please note - You may get numerous conference notifications directly from the conference manager automated system that seem confusing – This is because the automatic notification system is not able to filter out the alternative interview times for Kindergarten and Ms. Bedard’s grade 4 class and instead of notifying just these two classes the notifications are being received by everyone – please ignore any notifications that do not apply to your situation.  Thank you for your understanding - we have notified the CBE tech team about this glitch and hopefully it will be fixed prior to next time.

Scholastic Book Fair
Alex Munro school library will be hosting a book fair from Nov 20-24.  Students will have the opportunity to browse the collection throughout the week and have the option to fill out a wish list for parents to review as well as show their parents' books that have caught their eye during the Friday conferences. 

Spirit Day – Nov 23 – Dress like a twin/triplet day
The leadership students have organized a twin day for next Thursday, November 23. Students are welcome to dress like their friend or a few friends and become their twin, triplet, or quadruplet. 

Veterans Food Drive
November is an important month where we remember the sacrifices of all the Canadians that served the country to support peace, freedom and democracy. The Veteran food bank helps support many of these service members. Alex Munro school will continue to collect non-perishable food for the Veterans food for the next few weeks. Students are welcome to bring in food donations until November 24. 

Fun Lunch
The next AMPA sponsored fun lunch will be Subway on Nov. 21. The deadline to order tonight by 11:59pm. Orders can be made at www.healthyhunger.ca. 

AMPA Bottle Drive and Fundraising News
AMPA continues to collect bottles every Friday – just drop your bottles off at the front of the school every Friday and they will take care of the rest!  Thanks to everyone who has already participated in this fundraiser.  AMPA also kicked off their latest fundraiser on Nov 7. Information about this fundraiser was sent home with your child last week. 

Traffic Safety (Parking Lot – Staff Only)
Although it is convenient to pull into our parking lot to drop off or pick up your child at or from school, parking lots are dangerous places when vehicles and children are in them at the same time. Parents, as contributing members of our community and to support our school, please do not enter our parking lot for pick up or drop off purposes.  We have plenty of street parking around the school. Thank you for supporting the safety of our students.
